When your pet is suddenly sick, hurt, or simply not acting like themselves, waiting can make the worry harder. Brook Farm offers same-day and urgent veterinary appointments in Patterson, NY every day we are open. Booking online is the easiest way to choose a time.
Not sure if the concern can wait?
Start with what changed and how quickly. A same-day appointment may be appropriate when your pet needs timely attention but does not appear immediately life-threatening. Text or call if you need help choosing between Brook Farm and a 24-hour emergency hospital.
Reasons to book urgent veterinary care
- Vomiting, diarrhea, reduced appetite, or a sudden change in drinking
- Lethargy, hiding, restlessness, weakness, or a behavior change
- Limping, pain, stiffness, or a new mobility problem
- Ear discomfort, eye irritation, itching, swelling, or a skin reaction
- Coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, or a new respiratory symptom without breathing distress
- Urinary changes, accidents, straining, or changes in stool
- A wound, minor injury, or concern after eating something unusual
The right setting depends on severity, progression, and the information you provide. If a symptom worsens quickly, seek emergency guidance rather than waiting for a scheduled visit.
What happens at a same-day visit
We listen to what you noticed.
You know your pet’s normal. Tell us when the change began, what is different, what your pet has eaten or encountered, and whether anything has helped. Photos, videos, medication lists, and a short symptom timeline can make the pattern clearer.
We examine the whole pet.
We focus on the immediate concern while checking for other findings that may change the plan. The examination is paced around safety, comfort, and what your pet can reasonably tolerate.
We explain what matters now.
Depending on the findings, we may recommend laboratory testing, X-rays or other imaging, medication, fluids, wound care, supportive treatment, home monitoring, a recheck, or referral. We will explain what each step may tell us, which choices are most time-sensitive, and expected costs whenever circumstances allow.
You should leave with a clear plan
Before you go, we will review what we found, what to do at home, which changes deserve a call, when results are expected, and whether a recheck is needed. Follow-through is part of the visit, not an extra.
